Pumpkin, Pumpkin on a Vine--It's Halloween Time!

After learning all about apples and how they grow, it was time to begin learning about a another fall favorite--pumpkins!

We had fun learning all about how pumpkins grow and change, and we found out some really interesting information about pumpkins using PebbleGo.  Did you know that some pumpkins can actually be blue?  Or that some pumpkins can weigh as much as a cow?

After all that learning, we decided it was time to write like Zoe Hall, the author of It's Pumpkin Time, and we created some informational books of our own showing just how pumpkins grow.

Real pumpkins are fun, but sometimes make believe pumpkins are even better--and our favorite make believe pumpkin was definitely SPOOKLEY!

After reading Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano, we made some creative pumpkin patches and stories of our own!

Then we investigated some pretty unique pumpkins from a real pumpkin patch!

We made lots of pumpkin observations and explored pumpkins a little more closely--inside and out.

Then we decided we would check out exactly how pumpkin plants grow by planting a few of our own, and they are already starting to grow!

October wouldn't be complete without Halloween!

We loved dressing up as some of our favorite story book characters--and then reading about some new ones!

We finished off our Halloween festivities with some not so scary monsters, some magical ghosts, a little witchy writing, and a few sips of witch's brew!
